Compassion from the Father

Definition: [Passion] intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction

James 1:27 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world.

As long as I can remember, I have been good with children. Not just teaching them, but allowing them to be kids around me. Sometimes, they don’t have the family they need or the outlet to express themselves without condemnation. My heart always goes out to those who do not have family they can call their own. Over the years, I have become an aunt (Aunt Nesha) to many because of caring for the children as if they were my own (Note: I do not have kids myself.. but you get the point).

Recently, I have been reading the Bible and articles on how God is a Father to the fatherless. I also learned that if the orphans call on Him, He will answer. I wonder how many orphans have cried to have them hold them in their arms for comfort, or wanted to hear someone sing a song to soothe their hearts or be fed because they were hungry or provide shelter to call home when left abandoned. If God hears them, how does He answer?

I have found that He does it through people. We, the people, are the arms and legs that reach out to those that the Father wants to comfort. God is a loving Father who wants to make sure that all are cared for. He sends people to hold their hands and sing a lullaby when they need a parental touch.

Deuteronomy 10:18 New Living Translation
He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing.
